How we completed the assignment
Viegand Maagøe helps the municipalities with discussion and help in the process on all levels. It was especially about professional advisory regarding the baseline for CO2 emissions, identifying efforts towards reductions, and scenario calculations. We also assist in dissemination and press work about the climate plan.
The municipalities’ needs are different but all in all we help our clients completing the six primary steps in the unfolding of the climate plan:
- The determination of CO2 baseline
- Deciding reduction goals
- The setup of ‘business as usual’ scenario
- Choosing an area for effort and action
- The setup of an action scenario
- The determination of indications for follow-up

Results
It is pioneer work what the DK2020 municipalities has taken upon themselves. There must be made new standards for municipal climate planning, and the municipalities’ effort will have essential impact on whether the goals in the Paris Agreement will be fulfilled, and Denmark’s goal about 70% CO2 reductions in 2030.
Viegand Maagøe helps several municipalities with systemizing the work and establishing a strong professional foundation for the important decisions about concrete efforts and tools in the climate plans.
