Electrification of the Food Industry
Reference: The Confederation of Danish Industry
Electrification of production processes is one way of bringing about the green transition in the food industry. With the project Electrification of the Food Industry, we demonstrate in detail how the transition can be actualised.
We suggest specific solutions in collaboration with 20 Danish food companies and disseminate the results to the rest of the industry through a website, technical workshops, news media, and conferences among others.
The project: Exemplifying electrification
Project Electrification of the Food Industry demonstrates through 20 concrete examples how Danish food companies can ensure a green transition while strengthening their competitiveness by changing their energy source from fossil fuels to CO2 neutral electricity. The potential is great as there are already plenty of available technologies. However, there is an absence of good, tangible examples of successful implementations. Thus, the purpose of this project is to map out and find possible solutions for electrification at 20 Danish food companies.
Alongside the Confederation of Danish Industry and DTU, Viegand Maagøe is responsible for the project. The project is financed by The Danish Industry Foundation.
Viegand Maagøe’s role is to manage the project, advise the 20 food companies, and create relevant communication about the project and its results. Our colleagues, who provide advice, are experts within industrial energy optimization and communications.
Viegand Maagøe is responsible for:
- Mapping out the production processes and suggest solutions for electrification
- Creating a business case as a foundation for the decision making for the companies
- The dissemination of the project and its results through technical workshops, conferences, project website and more
- PR in both printed and digital media
- Project management
The results: New insights into electrification
It is expected that the 20 participating companies will decide to electrify their production thus ensuring their future competitiveness. Their experiences will provide other companies with insight into different processes toward electrification, and hopefully, kindle a wider interest in changing the production processes within the food industry.
The project’s results are presented at technical workshops, conferences and on the project’s website: eliindustrien.dk
