Energizing Change in Emerging Economies with The Danish Energy Agency

Sharing efficient solutions with emerging economies

The Danish Energy Agency wants to put Danish experience and knowledge about energy efficiency to good use in emerging economies around the world.

That is an area of expertise for us here at Viegand Maagøe so we provide expertise and advice on the matter in countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico, Ukraine, Egypt, and Ethiopia.

Specifically, we share insights on energy efficiency in energy intensive industries, buildings, and products, as well as supporting regulation and incentive schemes in the countries that The Danish Energy Agency works with.

Contract period: 2020-2024

Mexico

2022 – 2023

We help the Mexican state of Jalisco reduce emissions within its industrial sector. We work across several sectors and our experts visit a wide range of companies working with energy intensive processes.

When visiting Jalisco, our experts work on-site at different companies – from aluminum foundries to dairies – and conduct energy screenings to seek out potential opportunities for energy reductions.

We return on a regular basis to Jalisco, and our efforts will result in workshops and a catalogue of recommendations that can serve as inspiration for the local government and other companies in the state.

Vietnam

2021 – 2023

We designed and developed the implementation plan for an incentive scheme for energy efficiency in energy intensive industries in Vietnam. It happened in close cooperation with national and regional authorities and key private sector stakeholders to ensure the biggest impact possible.

In the process, we conducted workshops with provincial authorities, large energy consumers, and financial institutions to design a nationally tailored scheme.

Indonesia

2021 – 2023

In Indonesia our assignment was to help reduce emissions in the building sector. We targeted the most beneficial initiatives for low carbon development and ways to ensure a more coherent regulatory framework on a national level.

We discussed policies with authorities on all levels and used survey-based data collection and analysis. The insights were used in the preparation of the final roadmap.

The project also included several workshops for stakeholders in the Indonesian construction and building sector.
