Energy check-up shows the way to streamlining
Reference: Lactosan A/S
How do you ensure that a big company as Lactosan works as energy efficiently as possible? With a mandatory energy check-up where the energy consuming processes are analyzed, and the savings are identified.
Viegand Maagøe conducted an energy check-up at Lactosan in both 2015 and 2019 and showed profitable solutions that can reduce the cheese powder manufacturer’s energy consumption.
How we completed the assignment
The energy efficiency directive of EU requires for big companies to conduct an energy check-up every fourth year.
Many companies such as Lactosan has worked with energy efficiency for a long time and therefore it requires a high level of understanding in terms of the processes to complete a rewarding energy check. Viegand Maagøe was able to find the crucial energy consuming processes, perform an analysis and devise cost-effective solutions that increase the company’s energy efficiency.
Viegand Maagøe collected and analysed Lactosan’s operation data and made suggestions for profitable solutions that reduce the company’s energy consumption. The work consisted of i.a.:
A central and energy heavy process at Lactosan is spray drying cheese powder. After an analysis of the energy and mass flows, Viegand Maagøe made a proposition to streamline the process, collect prices and calculate the payback period. Lactosan is taking the propositions with them into the further development of the plant.
Get the right energy check-up
- An annual consumption at more than 1.000 MWh requires a full energy check-up
- An annual consumption that is between 100 and 1.000 MWh can live up to the requirement of a check with a simplified energy check-up
- Companies with an annual consumption under 100 MWh can conduct the energy check themselves without the help of a techinical expert.
