How we completed the assignment
The Ukrainian energy agency wishes to promote energy savings in the industries. Viegand Maagøe has together with the energy agency in Denmark counseled about establishing a voluntary agreement scheme for energy savings in the Ukranian industry. With the agreement scheme companies will gain access to financing at attractive terms and partial investment support in exchange for saving energy.
To support the implementation of the agreement scheme it has taken socio-economic analyses of political initiatives, establishment of business cases for companies in different sectors and the preparation of tools.
Viegand Maagøe has completed:
- Data collecting about energy usage, energy prices and CO2 emissions in the industry
- Modelling of the energy optimization potential at subsector level
- Socio-economic of alternative policy designs
- Financial analyses for participating companies
- Applying- and reporting formats for participating companies and finance institutions
- Design of the database for collecting implementation data
- Workshops with national authorities
Result
The voluntary agreement scheme for the Ukranian industry is expected to increase the interest for investing in energy savings significantly at energy-intensive companies. This will:
- Reduce the energy usage and strengthen the competitiveness in the companies
- Reduce local and global pollution from energy production
- Reduce reliance on imported energy
