New Metering Structure to Reduce Tax-costs for District Heating Plant

Viegand Maagøe have assisted the combined heat and power plant Køge Kraftvarmeværk with ensuring a correct metering structure for their heat and power generation. Hence, the plant achieved significant savings in tax payments.
How we solved the task
District heating suppliers and combined heat and power plants pay different fees for the energy they consume, in Denmark. VEKS, who owns Køge Kraftvarmeværk, requested Viegand Maagøe’s assistance to ensure the plant measured their energy consumption correct and in the most cost-effective manner.
Viegand Maagøe have:
- executed an energy mapping of energy flows and current tax payments
- proposed new solutions and metering structure to minimize tax payments
- provided the necessary documentation to the Danish Customs and Tax Administration to introduce a new metering structure
- ensured that the plant followed the regulations and that every new meter was correctly installed.
Viegand Maagøe provided Køge Kraftvarmeværk with the most profitable approach to measure their energy consumption. Moreover, the plant payed the correct fees in regard to SO2, CO2, and NOx. Aside from this, Viegand Maagøe assisted in making sure that all regulations were complied with.
