Metering Reduces Tcosts for District Heating Plant
How can a company be sure to meet the complicated Danish tax scheme for heat- and power generation? With careful planning of a precise metering structure and documentation of energy balances.
Viegand Maagøe has assisted the combined heat and power plant Køge Kraftvarmeværk with ensuring a correct metering structure for their district heating and power generation. Which in turn caused the plant to achieve significant savings in tax payments.
How we completed the assignment
In Denmark heating suppliers and combined heat and power plants pay different fees. VEKS, who owns Køge Kraftvarmeværk, requested Viegand Maagøe’s assistance to ensure the plant measured their energy consumption correctly and in the most cost-effective manner.
Viegand Maagøe has:
- executed an energy mapping of energy flows and current tax payments
- proposed new solutions and metering structure to minimize tax payments
- provided the necessary documentation to the Danish Customs and Tax Administration to introduce a new metering structure
- ensured that the plant followed the regulations and that every new meter was correctly installed.
The new metering structure proved to save costs for the district heating plant, Køge Kraftvarmeværk. Viegand Maagøe provided them with the most profitable approach to measure their energy consumption. Moreover, the plant paid the correct fees in regard to SO2, CO2, and NOx. Aside from this, Viegand Maagøe assisted in making sure that all regulations were complied with.
