Energy and process optimization

Mapping

How well do you know what the energy and resource consumption in your company is? Mapping is a key tool for optimising resource consumption as decisions are best made on an informed basis.

Energy mapping and process mapping are the basis for optimising

A mapping does not in itself provide for optimisation of the company. However, it is usually necessary to be able to take action in the right places. Therefore, we always recommend that an energy or process mapping of the consumption that you want to optimise take place - before the efforts are prioritised.

The mapping is a valuable basis for decision-making which we prepare based on in-depth knowledge of processes and supply systems, and that we can supplement with data and measurements.

Our mapping work has led to optimisation projects at a large number of companies, both nationally and internationally.

Examples of energy mapping and process mapping

  • Mapping of the company's resource flows
  • Mapping of the company's thermal and electrical energy consumption
  • Mapping of energy supply systems (boilers, refrigeration systems, compressed air, etc.)

Typical supplies

  • Mapping in an in-house developed Excel format
  • Mapping in Excel format incl. presentation in PowerPoint or Word
  • Analyses that supplement the mapping with a view to. project development, such as
    • Breakdown of energy consumption by units such as heating, cooling and electrical
    • Temperature analysis showing the actual temperature needs
    • Loss analysis that provides an overview of where losses occur
    • Potential for utilising surplus heat internally or externally
  • Specific metrics to complement your existing data

Method

We map using tools we have developed ourselves based on experience from more than 500 mappings. The form is an Excel tool that you can continue working in.

For example, if it is an energy mapping, it will be based on the principles of mass and energy balances. This ensures that you have an overview of the physical flows and where the associated energy is consumed at all times.

The tool supports the formats required in connection with, for example, energy management or energy and climate audits.

If the mapping requires it, we also have equipment to perform measurements to supplement your existing data.

How we help you through the process

We work with mapping of resource flows (value streams) in a broad sense and tailor all mappings to your needs. For example, there may be one or more rounds of data collection and review of partial results.
