Temporary employment agency JKS sharpens its ESG profile

JKS wanted their first ESG report to focus on social sustainability. With the report, JKS can make its work with responsibility visible both internally and externally.

Who and what

JKS is Denmark's largest temporary employment agency, sending around 3,000 temporary workers to work all over Denmark every day in a wide range of job types.

JKS is not subject to EU requirements for ESG reporting, but still wanted to present a comprehensive story about its work with responsibility.

The company became aware of the potential in communicating ESG work through the Confederation of Danish Industry's ESG-Ready Service Company initiative. JKS therefore wanted to prepare its first ESG report that could contribute to value creation.

Focus in the ESG report

JKS' history of promoting social sustainability became a main focus. It is especially about promoting an inclusive labor market:

"It is deeply rooted in our company's DNA, where everyone has equal opportunities to thrive and develop, regardless of background," says Dorte Sejrup Hæsum, CFO of JKS and head of the working group for the development and implementation of JKS' ESG activities.

Viegand Maagøe helped us quickly prepare an ESG report that provides great value by highlighting our sustainability efforts. We had not worked with ESG before, and it was safe to collaborate with Viegand Maagøe's ESG experts, who were both thorough and efficient.

How we solved the task

ESG reporting shows a company's efforts within 3 areas: Environment, Social and Governance. Social engagement is particularly important for JKS, but there was also an increasing focus on climate and environmental impacts.

We began by mapping the relevant themes for the report. This was based on an industry-specific materiality analysis that was a result of the work in ESG-Klar Servicevirksomhed. We supplemented the analysis with a number of interviews with the management of JKS and then wrote an overall outline for the report, in which the primary messages were collected and prioritized.

The process was characterized by good cooperation with JKS' ESG working group and the management, whose commitment is crucial to success.

We developed the report in dialogue with JKS' ESG working group. Viegand Maagøe both wrote the report and was responsible for graphic design based on JKS' visual identity.

Results

The ESG report has given JKS a powerful tool to make its work with responsibility visible to customers, partners and employees:

"We are committed to making a difference and thinking about sustainability in what we do. Our new ESG report shows how far we have come and where we want to go. It's about taking small steps in the right direction," says Jesper Busk, CEO of JKS.

Specifically, JKS has gained:

  • A stronger understanding of ESG as a driver of the company's value creation
  • Development and production of JKS' first ESG report
  • The collaboration with JKS will continue in 2025, where there will be a focus on value chain mapping and dual materiality analysis
